Born to a traditional family of magicians, Bertrand was from the start set on becoming a mage, this was a bit from curiosity and amazement with the arts but also because it's so practical! As a moderately lazy person, he appreciates this a lot.

He is a short boy, even for his age (typically 13), and is also quite soft-bodied, while he can manage to focus on study if so he wishes, he never manages to find the same will to do sports or any type of outdoor activity. He has a tired, aloof expression, which stays there even if he is happy, embarrassed or sad, only small hints of his emotions appearing in his face.

Personality-wise, he is seen as cold, but that isn't the exact truth, he is a bit alienated and too focused on his interests but he is still a person who wants to have friends and who cares about them (though he is also one to push his interests in them, often asking if they don't want to try a spell.) He has an interest in all things paranormal, including many creatures of the wild, he just doesn't particularly like to go into the forest to find them.

Due to a sleeping schedule issue, he often is sleepy during the day, yawning and dozing off at times. He does well in his classes, though often can't remember the proper spell pronunciation due to his lack of attention, this makes it so he tends to look at his notebook when he is casting spells, this is highly hazardous for those around him, people being caught in his spells without him even noticing. Though it's not like his distraction is the only excuse for casting questionable spells on humans, he likes his human subjects, though typically prefers them willing.

He knows elemental magic and has focused a lot on psychic spells, though his leading use of the arts is with transformation enchantments, the boy being able to do spells of all sort within that range.
