Mauti is the product of
ZiraLioness and Nala...no they didn't go lesbo and somehow end up with a kid. They had their genes mixed by Rafiki...essentially having the monkey 'play god'. This brought the cub to be...and gave her a personality rivaling Zira's...this is why Nala essentially abandoned the cub, leaving her to Zira.
Naturally, Zira decided to make her against Nala and the Prides...telling her that she was abandoned by her, leaving her with Zira...the mother that stuck through it, taught her everything. Mauti knew of the gene mixing and commonly played with Zira...calling her a lesbian and all...but...now that she knew why the other didn't stay...she was pissed.
Granted, she has long since leaned to tolerate Nala...but never gives her any slack when it comes to being her 'mother'...she always tells her that she is not her child...but that she belongs to Zira and her family...
