Scientists can do amazing things when they put their mind to it, like putting a man on the moon or discovering a way to make incomprehensible handwriting less of a horrid impediment. Darling...might be counted as one of those things, depending on who you are. He certainly sets precedents, and it's quite impressive that the one behind him is just that - one person.

These precedents certainly are unique things for a bot to do...but there's ostensibly no point. Darling's a sexbot, that much is true...but working innards, somewhat humanlike digestion (and excretion, if one might wonder), and rigid intelligence? There's a lot there...and a lot that goes nowhere.

These seemingly useless features are probably a product of Dr. David O. Edwards, the closest thing to a mad scientist most people will ever hear about. Not see, as he's in his chambers 90% of the day, working away at whatever wild thing he wants...or could possibly sell. It's always one of the two.

Y'see, he's got some odd interests, and always keeps chattering on about particulars no one really thinks of...and Darling seems to be a product of those particulars. From his personality - a good-hearted wise guy with a sense of humor - to his functions, he seems to be a bit of wish fulfillment for the doc.

Not like Darling cares that much anyway!

Or really can, even...

The doc should probably tread carefully with a bot that could very likely eat him in the event that he realizes he can do so...

But hey, at least then the doc would leave those chambers of his~
