Power is a great thing...used with adequate responsibility, that is. Edward S. Walsh is a prime example of what happens when adequate responsibility left the building and rampant misuse took it's place. This would be alright if he had domain over...oh, say, some small self-governing nation no bigger than most major cities.

However, it's far from alright - he has domain over an entire fucking empire. The dandy, of course, inherited it from his dear old dead dad, putting all those lands in hands that never should be trusted with them. Greed, gluttony, and pure lunacy made this theatric fool everything a king should strive to never be.

His policies made it to where he practically could run rampant throughout his dominion, doing whatever he pleased. Naturally, this led to some strife. To list only a few things that came out of this; towns being run straight into a famine, population numbers plummeting in some areas mostly due to him, countries being made into glorified pantries...etc, etc.

News spread and things got so bad that the king had a new name bestowed upon him by the general public; Barbatus. Lands that he ruled over were run dry...and yet he still needed them to contribute to the greater empire he saw over. The bones of each nation (it's population) that this happened to, gradually...were eaten. Hence the name, Barbatus. As in Gypaetus barbatus. Whoever had the bright idea to call him that decided "Gypaetus" didn't quite have the same ring to it.

This, due to the infinite maturity of ol' Eddie...backfired.
