This city is a hell of a place.

Same old chains. Same old offices. Same old streets with the same old cars. Overhead, the same old wires: Telephone lines, electric...
It seems like it hasn't changed in years. At night it seems almost frozen in time, except for the fog drifting up from the manholes and strange wayfaring figures that appear unannounced from behind street corners and lamp posts.

It could be any city, at any point in time.

Except this city exists in the year 2070, and what seems bucolic at first glance becomes more bizarre when examined closer...

Approximately the year 2030, an unmanned private spacecraft encountered an object roughly the size and shape of a gelcapsule floating in near-earth orbit above the sea of Japan. Amazingly, it was able to retrieve this object and return to earth safely.
Soon after, word began to spread of an amazing clinical breakthrough in the science of genetic modification, though initial claims were dismissed by experts in the field as being nothing but speculation. The rumors died down for twenty years until the advent of the 2050s...

All of a sudden, children were being born with bizarre mutations of the body. Some gained strange and threatening abilities; others, like Azalea, were simply oddities.
Soon, the compound responsible for this change was located and the organization that distributed it (a company that made herbal tea) was dismantled, it's top figures jailed or ostracized. Still, the impact was there... what people weren't part of the "mutant generation" soon became a part of it, as rapid genetic mutation became a new trend that exploded with popularity in the world of body modification.

In the 20 years since the mutagen altered the genes of the first famous generation the world has become a dystopia of hedonism, violence, and poverty. Those rich enough to afford the high dollar full-body mutations have become different creatures entirely, often altering their bodies to fulfill strange sexual or psychological fetishes. Those without that kind of money still modify their bodies, major alteration done in the growing black market of the "Mutation Nation."
The Mutation Nation is a loose knit community focused within a densely populated settlement in the heart of the city. Like Kowloon Walled City the law of the city largely does not apply. Instead, law is set by the populace.

Besides the black market and settlement, many bars and clubs also exist within the Mutation Nation. One, known as The Bloodpit, is known for it's crowded concerts that often end in violence and bloodshed. Metal and punk are mandatory, and the music is always LOUD. Rumors abound that within the Bloodpit there have been more than a few deaths, people ripped apart simply by standing in the middle of a huge moshpit without being able to handle it.

Of course, these are all just rumors, but with that kind of reputation you need to make extra sure that those who do cause trouble get dealt with promptly.

This is where Azalea comes in...

Along with a few others, Azalea works as a bouncer at The Bloodpit, and a tough little fucker she is. Though she's slender and small, she's agile and powerful, with a propensity towards kicking people in the face. If that doesn't work, she's got a handy dandy hand-taser hidden away in her back pocket or boot (depending on what she's wearing that night.)
It's a wild gig, but it pays the bills... and hey, free concerts, man. You can't get better than that.

Azalea is from the first mutant generation. That means she's older than she looks, but still young enough to kick some ass. Probably more than one of those second gen muties, considering her body seems to age extremely slow.
Her outfits tend to be definitively glam with a big dose of punk rock grit to go along with it.
Her personality? Azalea's a total fireball, bombshell, whatever you'd like to call it. She's unpredictable and rowdy, but has a softer side to her as well. You can't get to know her by reading this... go meet her!
As for Azalea's mutation? It turned her albino... and turned her eyes and hair, all of it, bubblegum fucking pink. Hell, it even turned her saliva pink, not to mention her way-too-long rock n' roll tongue. The fact that it's forked and pierced? Chock it up to the culture of the Nation, where the bizarre IS the norm...

Oh, by the way... the mutagens caused one other defect. Her skin is not only weird and pale, it's way fucking elastic. Azalea learned early on that her mutation meant he could fit things in that other kids couldn't. Yes, that's right... she can EAT PEOPLE WHOLE. When you've got that kind of physiological complication it can sometimes opens up a whole 'nother can of worms...
