Ashlen was a former member of the White Fang, a former protesting group for the rights of Faunus turned basically terrorist organization. She was part of it for most of the protesting and even joined in on the new leader's plans for a bit. She was always a good thief, so she was great at their plan on stealing Dust. But, when she learned about what that dust was going to be used for, she quickly fled from the White Fang. Now living on her own, Ashlen used her skills of thieving to survive.

Aletayo
Aletayo is her weapon of choice. It can fold itself up to be stored easily. It has three different forms, an axe, dual scythes, and a semi-automatic rifle. She can switch between them at will.

Semblance
While Ashlen doesn't know this, she can use a semblance. It allows her to camouflage herself at any moment, making it seem as if she had vanished.
