Artifact_Shop

Part of Fabhars_Alt_List

A strange shop owned by Fabhar. It has upgraded itself from a measly roadside stand, into a full-fledged shop! Appearing as a small Chinese palace, it is purple and gilded, with various windows and wind chimes visible on the outside, with a fine red carpet leading up to the front doors. Inside, the walls would be decorated with various pieces of artwork and lights, the rest of the walls almost completely covered by shelves, both tall and short, wide and thin, filled to the brim with magical items of all kinds. At the back of the shop would be the shopdesk and chair, in which Fabhar would sit. The desk itself is actually a finely polished oak writing desk, with various cupboards on the back, holding who-knows-what. A plush, cushion-y, ornate armchair is behind the desk, made of a fine purple fabric and oak as well. Built above the front doors is a sign, that reads "Fabhar's Ancient Magical Artifacts & Various Knick-Knacks", written in curled gold writing, also made of fine oak.

On the shelves, one would be able to see various items, both odd, unusual, and beautiful. Jewelry, masks, potions, bottles, devices, instruments, books... All could be found on it, and all were magical in nature. Behind the chair, one would be able to spot similar items in display cases, while also being able to spot weapons and clothing, along with much larger pieces, such as full-length mirrors.

Strangely enough, the shop refuses to take any type of currency as payment, unless it happens to be magical in nature. This is because the owner of the shop is only interested in magical items, and knows that money is worthless in the Park, due to the varying currencies that different people carry. Essentially, it works as a barter system. You find something you like, you offer something in return. If the owner is interested, you'll trade, and that will be that. It would also be prudent to note that the shop also normally does not accept living merchandise. Exceptions to this rule are when the shopkeeper feels compassion for the merchandise in question, and wishes to help it at the cost of losing a piece of merchandise himself.

Not everything is for sale, of course. In fact, all masks at the shop can only be rented, except for one, which is locked up in a huge chest beneath the desk. The masks have various capabilities, with some being much more dangerous to both the user and those around him than others. The owner makes sure to warn all customers of detrimental effects of his merchandise, along with making them sign waivers ensuring they admit they are responsible for anything bad that happens concerning the item.

An attempt to list all the merchandise available would be impossible, as it is ever-changing, and the list would be endless. However, if you can think of it, Fabhar has a good chance of having it.

A warning to all thieves, cheats, and ne'er-do-wells: Attempts to steal from the shop shall result in high amounts of pain, including, but not limited to: Electrocution, stabbing, melting, blindness, deafness, muteness, burning, freezing, temporary death, soul-ripping, pox, rashes, headaches, and various other maladies. Attempts to trick Fabhar will result in a scoff and a glare, along with a potential dismissal.

Please note that violence is not permitted in the shop. Any attempts at violence by a customer will result in the same punishment as stealing. You have been warned.

The shop and the shopkeeper come and go as they please, sometimes in a harmless shower of multicoloured sparks, sometimes fading away mysteriously, or even sometimes exploding spontaniously.

Midara also sells her potions at the shop when she is present (Midaras_potions), another desk appearing next to the first when she wants to sell them.

There happens to be certain dark, evil, and cursed objects sold at the shop, though most do not know of this, and Fabhar is reluctant to sell them unless he knows the customer can handle said items.

The shopkeeper will stay at human size while running the shop, and anyone larger than that shall slowly shrink to human size the closer he or she gets to the shop. The effect will reverse when he or she leaves.

Addition! - Fabhar built a synthetic soul to run the shop in his absence, which appears as a hologram. It has self-awareness, desires, and dreams, and also happens to be a bit peeved about running the shop. It is made partially of both magic and technology. It calls itself an AI. It hasn't decided on a name for itself yet, and Fabhar is currently working on a robotic body to house it, so that it may physically interact with items and customers.

Addition! Silverstreak now works at the shop as Assistant Manager, and the owner is funding Cody_Zarkas's card shop!
