Yes, its a little hard to tell, but little Arcelia is a harpy, a black harpy at that.
Physiology
Harpies are the humanoid monster girls that correspond with birds of prey, especially the smaller kinds like kestrels and falcons.
It may seem like Arcelia is a child of her race, but the honest truth is that she is nearly a fully grown adult for her race, and its rare that they grow to even her size, though being a black harpy does give her a slight size advantage over her green and brown-feathered cousins.
What distinguishes harpies from other avian monsters is their body structure...Unlike the tengu, demons with bird-like wings and humanistic features, harpies do not have normal arms and legs, instead having powerful wings in place of their arms, and clawed talons for feet. It may seem like an inconvenience, but harpies are masters of using their talons, able to manipulate anything just as well as a human hand.
Habits
They tend to colonize mountainsides and places with extremely high trees. Playful and cheerful, they love flying through the air, playing pranks on whomever is careless enough to come into their vision, be it animal, monster or even human, and they love going in tandem with other harpies to ensure that they can distract their 'prey' too much before they can get a chance to be caught.
Harpies, especially black harpies, are very defensive about their nests...even moreso then one would expect, considering their generally cheery temperament. Granted, if one is in a relationship with one, they do not get overly worried about them, but others should watch.
Harpies need to lay eggs every day, hence the need for a permanent nest, though their eggs are never fertile unless it is mating season and they have mated during so...though some harpies will treat each and every egg as though it was, despite the fact they never hatch.
Black harpies, though, happen to be a stitch more intelligent then the green and brown feathered, having little care for their unfertilized eggs even to the point that they will cook and eat them.
Be forewarned, an egg-laying harpy tends to become extremely amorous after egg-laying and will attempt to have sex with anyone assisting them.
Arcelia
Arcelia is a near-adult black harpy, and is a quite intelligent one for her species, having built a nest very far into the mountains....though she actually tends to be a bit of a loaner from her sistren within the mountains, its mostly because of the fact that though she is a nicely sized harpy, she isn't for the black-feathered harpies, and they mercilessly tease her for that...
...that and flying charges up her sex drive, something that is seen as juvenile to most other harpies.
Arcelia doesn't go bare like her other harpy sisters, wearing a black tube top and a loin cloth to keep her modesty in tact.
