Ah! Hello... how'd you find me?
Meet Andrea. Cute, isn't she? Nice and sedate, most of the time, but with a sort of persistent cheer, she's a quiet, friendly girl. And there's a very good reason for this! But more on that later.
Standing about 4'9, weighing in at not a lot, with lovely, purplish hair and beautiful eyes, Andrea has always stood out. She's not like most of the kids in class, oh my no. There's a simple explanation for this, though, and it's tied into her blood type, which is an exotic. She can take anyone's blood in a transfusion, but don't give it to anyone else! ... except vampires, who may find it a tasty treat.
Odd girl that she is, Andrea is interested to a rather extreme degree in the supernatural. Vampires, demons, angels, and other things, all of them draw her attention and interest like few other things! She's all the time reading fantasy novels and mythology books and the like, simply to satisfy her rather insatiable hunger for knowledge! Or at least entertainment. Pity some books go out of print though. Ah well, she has quite a few books stored away in her special place! Ah... and now we come to the source of her interest and her persistent good cheer, not to mention her escape from the traumas of childhood.
She has a magic necklace.
Well, that's not quite the right word for it. But that's the best basic description you're going to get and that's what she understands it as!
It's a fairly simple thing. A little leaf-shaped necklace, on a silver chain. She wears it often, but not all the time, and it lets her go to her special place... a secluded forest clearing, with a small, clear pool within. Off to one side is a gargantuan tree, which is hollow, with a spiral staircase within that leads to a house nestled into the trees boughs. It's always night here, but brightly lit by stars and floating motes of light. Her little house is full of books, and good food, and all manner of other things... and it has a number of beds for sleeping in. It's her private sanctuary from the world, and best yet? Time stands still there, for her, because no matter how much time actually seems to pass she'll return within a few minutes of leaving.
But how, you may ask, does this work? Well... she met this Strange Woman some time back, who called her little sister and handed it to her. She was told it would keep her safe, and told to hold it in her hand and imagine a door when she wanted to use it. And she's learned all she needs to know about it since. Still... it is her secret, special place. No one but her knows about it, because she doesn't have any friends who're all that good.
Perhaps a wee bit shy when meeting new people, but rarely rude or snippy, she's almost always in a good mood, and willing to talk even if she won't chatter on endlessly. Typically, she's dressed in cute clothes, like those depicted, and she often has a bookbag or somesuch with her for carrying books around. Not to mention schoolwork... still, she has plenty of time to do that in her little sanctuary.
