Introduction:

The mousey red headed girl pushed her glasses up and trotted bravely towards the yellow crime scene tape. She ducked under the bright yellow tape and made her way to Detective Chavez. “Hi! I am with the Providence Informer, do you have a moment for a few questions?” she asked. The tally wiry detective eventually pulled his head up from his own notepad and looked down at the girl. “No.” he said before going back to his notes. “If there is something going on in Providence the people have the right to know!” she berated him. Her face turning a little red as the flux of emotions began to rush through her. Who did this new cop think he was?

There IS something going on in this town! SOMETHING is happening! This many people just don’t go missing. “What do you have to say about all the missing people that have completely disappeared in the past year?” she said in an accusatory voice. He sighed. “I’d say it is very unfortunate and we are doing the best we can to pick up the pieces.” Amber frowned at him. “How about all of the..(she had a hard time making the words).. bizarre murders? The strange remains left by the killers!? Do you think they are related?” While there was no official word on it, there was a killer in town. There may have been multiple. The one thing they all had in common was the way they left the…remains of their victims. He shot her a look that said “the authorities weren’t ready to release this information and if she kept on she would find herself in a holding cell”. Then he said, “I think you better go back to reporting on the new microbrew in town. I am sure someone around here has a cat that can skateboard, maybe that will make good news. If I were you though, I would stay away from this mess. Especially if you have any hopes of writing another story.”. Chavez promptly turned and walked away. She put her notebook in her pocket and ducked back under the crime tape without another word.

Out of the corner of her eye she saw a girl lingering, just away from the commotion but still in clear view of the immediate scene. She looked… like she knew something. Amber made her way after the girl who immediately turned around and began to walk away. Amber picked up her pace, but now the girl was running. She chased after her into a back alley, there was nowhere for her to go here. As Amber turned the corner – she found nothing. “What the hell is going on in this town?” she said to herself as she caught her breath.

Character/Description:

Amber Darling, is a cute redheaded girl. A little nerdy at times, but don’t discount her; she has a knack for getting the story. Her journalistic instincts are strong and it always seems she is in the right place at the right time. It’s almost like news just happens when she is around. She works for the Providence Informer one of the town’s few newspapers that are dedicated to getting the truth. The Informer doesn’t report on menial news things like Festivals or how to find the best deals on Cyber Monday. She would have never taken the job if that was in the listing. They cover grit, the scandals, the crimes, the accidents, the things that are going on in town late at night.

Amber spends most of her weekend nights listening to Police scanners. She has a reputation for getting to scenes before the cops. This has led to more than a few dangerous situations for her. As cute as she may be, she is a survivor. Which is lucky for her, because sometimes if you arrive before the good guys you’re left with nothing but the bad guys.

The Interview

An interesting letter was sent to Amber, a chance to interview with someone who has identified themselves as responsible for the disappearances around town lately. It seems sketchy.. but if she turns it into the cops.. she will never get the story.

Police Chatter?

Listening in on the police radio, she hears the reports of a strange altercation occurring at a local night club. According to the operator, a clubber has swallowed another clubber whole and alive. There really isn’t a code for this in police talk….

Your idea?

I am open to anything, the more creative the better. Using dice for a variety of things can add a fun bit of randomness to a scene.

If you are interested, we can roll dice just before digestion begins. We will call this time the struggle. During the struggle Amber will get anywhere from 1-3 attempts at escaping with a 1d6. The pred will always roll a 3d6. If Amber wins any roll she may be allowed to escape the pred’s belly. (These numbers can be modified/played with depending on the pred.)
