Altena is a dracoknight, and a noblewoman of two nations, after being raised by the very king that killed off both of her parents unknowingly for much of her early life. Altena was spared from the same fate largely due to the fact that she is a descendant of one of the twelve Crusaders of Jugdal, Njörun, possessing the holy blood that allows her to wield the Divine Spear, Gae Bolg. Despite a menacing exterior, especially from atop her wyvern, she is quite soft underneath, eventually disobeying her adoptive father's increasingly violent orders until eventually defecting entirely to her brother's side after learning the truth of her birth.

While sometimes cold and distant to some, she is a strong-willed and individualistic person. Her bond with her allies and true family are stronger than any loyalty to a nation, and those who find themselves on the opposite end of a fight are likely not long for this world, one way or another.
