Born on Ryloth in 30 BBY (Before Battle of Yavin), Alema got enslaved by the separatist with the occupation of her homeworld during the Clone War. Being rather tall and strong for her age, she was sent to become a gladiatrix on Zygerria, where she become proficient at fighting with her bare hands, resulting in her always devouring her opponent as her only form of food. Thankfully for her, Twi'leks have two stomachs and they are some of the strongest in the galaxy, allowing her to digest anything and anyone, flesh and even bones. And as she grew up, she becoma stronger, her body becoming more muscular and covered in scars of her many fights.

Years after the Empire took over, Alema got tired of the mistreatments she was receiving from her masters, harboring within her an intense hatred of their kind and their culture based on slavery. As her Zygerrian arena master prepared her for a fight to honor some imperial guests, she grabbed him and ate him. Some say she swallowed him whole, others that she chewed him up. Either way, she carried her large belly around while digesting him, opening the cells and taking advantage of the ensuing chaos of the slave revolt to escape. She killed some of the imperial guests, and hijacked their shuttle, forcing the pilot to fly her off-world. She ended up on Nal Huta, where she used her fighting and voring skills for some jobs like bodyguard, enforcer, bounty huntress, before settling for mercenary. Thus she began a career as an hired gun.

But after working a few times for the Empire, she realized they were no better than the Zygerrians who enslaved her. She then offered her services to the Rebel Alliance, providing her fighting skills and heavy weaponry to end slavery once and for all, and take revenge on those who forced her into servitude for their amusement by eating them all.
