Black Dragons, despite the pigment of their scales being somewhat common these days, true Black Dragons are dark all the way into their core, beings that desire nothing more than to empower themselves, taking whatever they please in order to do so, cold, cruel beings who seek worthy opponents to test their mettle.
A true Black Dragon has not been around for many milennia, they are genetic mutations, affected by the alignment of planets and the amount of dark matter present near their world, events that took place 30 years ago affected one such egg, causing the embryo to begin regrowth, his parents confused as to why their brood had hatched and yet this one egg remained, had it hatched before them the parents may have been tempted to kill the child there and then to prevent such evils from being released.

Fate had other plans...

During a vicious storm a group of raiders had managed to slip by the dragon parents who were tending to their younglings, making off with several items of treasure and the final egg, Akurom's egg. The parents soon brought their wrath down on the local settlement, burning half the town to the ground until they were stopped and by a powerful warrior in the form of a wolf clad in a black coat. Had he known their plight he would have certainly helped them but the two sulked back to their mountain, defeated at the loss of their last child, the child that lay amongst broken shell and ashes, the fires around him burning blue, seemingly flickering towards him, the child slowly pulled itself up, looking around with bewildered eyes, black dragons are born at a stage were they can actually function on their own, standing on his legs slowly he would turn around and look at the destruction that had been caused, stumbling forward he would encounter a panicked hound, barking at him frantically...the newborn did not hesitate, leaping forward he gripped the canine, claws digging in, body lifted up, swallowed whole by the black dragon who now cradled his belly, making his way into the woods nearby where he would hunt the local fauna until he was old enough to begin hunting more...daring prey.

At the age of 25 the nameless Black Dragon felt a compulsion in his veins, a dragon was dying nearby, up on the mountains, his father, Dragons are sensitive to the souls of their parents, nameless took flight towards the mountain top, stepping into the cave were his father lay, tired and old. The elder raised his rotting head with an exhaled breath of strained effort

"After all this time..."

"Father."

"Son...forgive me but I feel slightly at ease knowing you're Ruvaak Dov."

"Why? Feel less responsible for not taking care of the abomination?"

"Not at all...knowing you were able to survive off your own merit...ahhhh."

The elder sighed out, closing his eyes softly

"My Kiir...My son, you are born to a world were your kind is hardly the most corrupted being that draws breath, you require such talents to be able to make it through this life."

"I had expected nothing but your resentment."

"I am far to old to resent anything anymore, instead I will place a burden on your shoulders, the burden of our names, your weight to carry as you seek to return this world to the Dov."

"Your names?"

"Akurom....Dyagus. Your Mother's name...and my own...."

With a last ragged breath the elder lay his head down and drew his last, Akurom, now named stepped out of the cave, taking with him a sole pendant from the treasure horde still claimed by his siblings who looked at him with fear in their eyes, he pardoned this and simply took flight, leaving them all behind to go and gain more strength, more power with which to dominate those around him and return rule of this world to the dragons.
