Youkai... demons, or monsters, as some like to call them... used to be pretty common in Japan back in the day!

Yep, you'd be hard-pressed to wander out into the wilderness without getting jumped by a band of oni, or running into a bunch of murderous demon thugs. In their defense, it was kinda their thing... just what they did, you know?

But, that was a long time ago. Today, youkai are pretty rare... mostly due to secret extermination sects that've been hunting them for generations. Also because lots of them were pretty stupid.

So here, we have some of the more stubborn survivors! See, all of the sects are in the rural areas. None of them ever think to look in Tokyo itself... after all, youkai look pretty unique, and if one was spotted, it'd be all over the news~!

Yeah, right. Psh. A bit of transformation magic and one can become just as human as the next girl!

And that's the general mentality this group was going for. Hide in plain sight! So... they opened a cosplay cafe known as 'Youkai in Akihabara', though most just call it Akiba Youkai.

Since it's a cosplay cafe, most of the visitors are otaku boys...
