The A.S.S.P (Anti-Strangebeast Special Police) is a police division that specializes in the disposal of the bizarre creatures known as Yoju. They were originally formed as a semi-independent force to counteract the unimaginable fighting strength, stamina, and reproductive drive of the Yoju. Therefore, all offical responsibility for actions related to the Yoju's destruction has been relegated to this unit.

There are three types of A.S.S.P. personnel: Leaders, Hunters, and Supporters. The Hunters are generally the only ones to enter direct combat, and the majority of these are specially-modified biosoldiers.

Many official rules exist for the Hunters to obey... however, as of late, some of these rules have been to account for special circumstances.

1. A Hunter may not bear arms for purposes other than the disposal of Yoju. (Note: This rule has waned as of late due to third parties wishing to harm A.S.S.P. members.)

2. A Hunter may not trespass on private property for purposes other than the disposal of Yoju.

3. A Hunter may not cause reckless collateral damage for purposes other than the disposal of Yoju.

4. When handling vehicles in the pursuit of Yoju, Hunters are to be given preferential access to all public thoroughfares and other transportation facilities.

5. When a Hunter directs the presence of a Yoju, she may employ her weaponry to subdue it without recieving prior authorization.

6. A Hunter may dispose of fully or partially Yoju-consumed humans without recieving prior authorization.

7. Hunters must obey their commander completely at all times, and obedience on the field of battle is a primary criteria when assessing them for advancement.

8. Should a Hunter cause (unnecessary... see #1 and #6) human casualties during the course of a Yoju disposal mission she will be remanded to an indefinite period of remedial training.

9. Hunters are authorized to use any means necessary to eliminate those who prevent or attempt to prevent the destruction of Yoju.

10. All Hunters must obey the rules in this document to the letter.

Other regulations include:

1. Hunters may only carry and use the weapons permitted them by their Commander.

2. The following vehicles are mandated for official Hunter use:

H.D. SX-1300 motorcycle for police use
K.S.K.S. 1 buggy for wilderness use
BMG GVC-9 for command use
BUG TUF trailer for expeditionary and extended campaign use

Note: These two regulations can be cancelled if the Commander deems it necessary to procure weaponry and vehicles on-site. Authorization to borrow regular military vehicles and armament is rarely given, however, A.S.S.P. personnel are allowed to attempt requisitioning.

Yoju

There are two ways to classify Yoju: Form, and composition. Both methods are outlined as follows.

Classification by Form:

A Type - Humanoid
B Type - Bestial
C Type - Insectoid (articulated exoskeleton and over three legs)
D Type - Vegetal (various swollen appendages resembling vegetation)

Classification by Composition:

Progenitor - Yoju born from the body of a human woman. They have the ability to produce both additional Progenitors and first order Drones.

Drones - Yoju created from the mutated bodies of human men.

Yoju created by drones are termed second-generation Drones, which in turn created third-generation, etc. with each new generation weaker and less vital than the last. Drones are unable to create Progenitors.

Yoju have two reproductive methods, both of which make use of human bodies.

Progenitors are created by the impregnation of a woman and grow inside her, finally breaking free by eating the victim's body out from within.

Drones are created by the gradual, parasitic consumption of a man's body in which it is leeched for nutrients until converted into a Yoju entirely.

As a result, the survival rate of Yoju victims is higher among women than men (due to the period of time it takes for a progenitor to grow). This is one of the reasons that almost all biosoldiers are female.

Due to the fact that their home city has been cleared of Yoju infestation, the A.S.S.P. are now performing expeditionary services to clear these horrible creatures out from anywhere they might be hiding. Current A.S.S.P. personnel assigned to the mission are as follows:

Name: Alpha
ID Number: BS0001A
Unit Type: Command
Height: 172.0 cm
Weight: 54.0 kg
Blood Type: RH+ AB
Age: 21

Alpha was the first biosoldier to see combat deployment. She is proficient in the use of nearly all vehicles and firearms and is the functional leader of the unit. She's known to have excellent judgement and self-control in combat situations. Created as a battlefield commander, she has met all of the expectations of that role satisfactorily. Her mental condition is relatively stable. Having executed her role without fail in countless battles and destroyed upwards of fifty Yoju singlehandedly, she's proven to be a tremendous asset to the A.S.S.P.

Favored Weapon: TF-1 Rifle

Name: Marie
ID Number: BS0113E
Unit Type: Mid-Range
Height: 162.0 cm
Weight: 44.0 kg
Blood Type: RH+ A
Age: 18

Marie's prototype was introduced as one that would remain unbreakable through a wide variety of combat situations. She is mentally unstable, however, and her periodic neuroses have frequently prevented her deployment. Despite her general utility as a combat unit, her mental weakness is cause for concern.

Favored Weapon: DFS-40G Submachine Gun

Name: Misa
ID Number: BS0113C
Unit Type: Close Range
Height: 166.0 cm
Weight: 48.0 kg
Blood Type: RH+ O
Age: 18

Using a high-caliber pistol, Misa excels at close combat. She possesses an incredible hatred for Yoju. This makes her an extremely stable and tenacious soldier with the highest mental stability rating in the squad. In combat simulation training she was brutally effective at eliminating her opponents, but would often take great damage in the process. However, since being deployed to actual combat she has unquestionably proven her fighting ability.

Favored Weapon: K-247F Automatic Rifle

Name: Saeko Amagi
ID Number: HS0113C
Unit Type: Melee
Height: 165.0 cm
Weight: 47.0 kg
Blood Type: RH+ B
Age: 19

The only non-biosoldier member of the squad, her specialty is close-quarters combat. Her sharp intuition coupled with high agility allows her to rank on par with her biosoldier teammates in fighting ability. However, as a flesh-and-blood human her lack of endurance is seen as a problem. She is a surviving victim of the Kageromachi Incident. She was rescued from a Yoju assault by Alpha and brought into the ranks of the A.S.S.P. Due to her achievements in battle thus far it has been suggested that she continue her development in the role of 'blademaster'.

Favored Weapon: High-Frequency Blade

Name: Mikako
ID Number: BS0081A
Unit Type: Command
Height: 156.0 cm
Weight: 43.0 kg
Blood Type: RH+ A
Age: 18

Created with the same command specifications in mind as Alpha. Her strengths are her high mobility and accurate marksmanship, and she enjoys toying with her enemies before taking them down. Her ability to provide cover for her teammates is worthy of amazement. Her mental stability is average. She is expected to eventually mature into a leadership position with the next generation of A.S.S.P. troops.

Favored Weapon: MT-216 Assault Rifle

Name: Haruka
ID Number: BS0095F
Unit Type: Mid-Range
Height: 171.0 cm
Weight: 57.0 kg
Blood Type: RH+ A
Age: 19

Haruka fights with such ferocity that the morale of her comrades nearby is often redoubled. Her inability to control herself in the heat of combat is her only weakness. Despite this, there is no room for doubt that she is a superbly balanced combat unit. With additional self-restraint and stability she could become the commander of the next generation of A.S.S.P. She tends to be more effective in large brawling battles than in small, finesse operations. At present, she is perhaps the most effective melee strike unit in the squad.

Favored Weapon: A301L3 Shotgun

Name: Ayumi
ID Number: BS0121C
Unit Type: Close Range
Height: 151.0 cm
Weight: 41.0 kg
Blood Type: RH+ A
Age: 18

The unit with the greatest yet-unrealized potential that the A.S.S.P. has. Ayumi's current strength is her unsurpassed mobility. She is a somewhat unreliable unit, often acting spontaneously and unconsciously both in mission planning and on the battlefield. It seems this quirk is tied more to an exceptionally high mental stability rather than the opposite. Her battlefield record in actual combat is thus far unremarkable.

Favored Weapon: MT-002 Revolver

Favored Weapon: Weapon-Sack Microvulcan

Name: Jäger
ID Number: MS0115X
Unit Type: Medical/Heavy Weapons
Height: 173.0 cm
Weight: 63.0 kg
Blood Type: RH+ AB
Age: 23

Despite the fact that most battle doctrines call for all-female A.S.S.P. members, this is not always possible. In addition, there are types of equipment and weaponry that the A.S.S.P. has difficulty getting their hands on. For these reasons, a sole male mercenary was hired. Jäger is a soldier who performs two important duties for his female counterparts. First and foremost, he is medically trained... therefore, he is able to quickly triage and treat the injuries of both rescued victims and injured team members. Secondly, Jäger owns and operates a C-Unit equipped M5A1 Stuart light tank left over from the World War II era. The small vehicle is extremely useful for engaging Yoju with its multiple high-ROF weapons without fear of effective retaliation. Jäger, however, lacks mental stability and suffers from a difficult work environment, as he is considered the lowest ranking and any squad member can give him an order. He rarely speaks unless spoken to and performs his duties stoically.

Favored Weapon: T-82M Flechette Rifle

Name: Hephaestus
ID Number: CT005R
Unit Type: Light Recon Tank
Height: 2.3 m
Weight: 14.7 tons
Blood Type: N/A
Age: 107

Hephaestus is Jäger's ancient, battered scout tank, a surviving M5A1 Stuart created in 1941 and abandoned after the Second World War. It had been a museum piece until Jäger located and refitted it with a C-Unit, allowing him to perform all crew duties alone from a singular workstation. This also allows for two passengers and a bit of storage space within the cramped vehicle... often used to carry wounded personnel or rescued victims out of a particularly dangerous combat zone. Hephaestus is armed with a 37mm M6 Gun (essentially a light autocannon) and three M1919 Browning machine guns (one pintle, one coaxial with the 37mm, one in a small ball turret mount on the front). This allows for an incredible amount of antipersonnel... or anti-Yoju... fire to be put downrange. The machine is also equipped with a heavy dozer blade that doubles as a ram plow. Jäger thinks of Hephaestus as another team member and spends a good amount of his time around the old, olive-drab tank... the rest of the team finds this a little creepy.

If you see anything that may be classified as a Yoju, contact the A.S.S.P. as soon as possible. Do not attempt to engage the Yoju. Flee from it taking the most direct route possible. If you have been attacked, seek medical attention.
