Vorgoroth

+++Race Overview +++
Vorgoroth is an Edaxor; they are a race created artificially from the blood of ancient dragons, originally as living weapons in the armies of Thyphoros the Pale Wyrm (see below). After the fall of Thyphoros, many of his creations, and the Edaxors among them, started becoming more and more independent and pursuing their individual goals.
Edaxors are rare; they were meant as centurions to lead the legions of the Pale Wyrm with their imposing size and impressive strenght and resilience, so only a few hundreds have ever been breed. Each has a strong sense of martial hierarchy and inevitably sees themself on top of it, unless a great and powerful or charismatic leader conquers their devotion; because of this, Edaxors don't group togheter, but rather lead hordes of minions subdued through force or will; this may vary from bands of brigands to small warbands, and several Edaxors have succeeded in creating their own reigns of terror.

Edaxors are large and powerful. Their body can sustain the most powerful strikes with relatively diminutive injuries, and keep fighting even when covered in blood and deep wounds or even mutilated. Their strenght is impressive as well, enough to punch through solid stone walls or lifting horses and even heavier objects with one hand.
They have a good sense of smell and hearing; while they lack eyes, they are still able to "see" through a supernatural power, the "Eye of the Wyrm", that is also immune to any effect that would normally induce blindness.
They are able to breathe dark flames or toxic fumes, and their fangs and claws are hexed to progressively slow down and paralyze any living creature they wound. Also, their wyrm blood grants them the ability to manipulate ancestral forces similar to magic, including their Eye of the Wyrm and the ability to manipulate and reshape living beings subjected to specific alchemic treatments with dragonic blood. They often carry on the legacy of Thyphoros, seeking to create new, monstrous dragonspawn abominations.

+++Character Overview +++
Vorgoroth is an Edaxor, with all the powers and abilities that come from that.
He was created during the final years of the Wyrm War (see below), which means he's already several centuries old.
He is an intelligent, cunning creature, with a strong instinct for command and domination. He has established his lair in the ruins of an old, small fortress, surrounded by a forest of brambles and thorn created by some forgotten curse. In this dark place he collected many tomes of knowledge (and even some more leisurable readings) and some artifact of powers, and set up a functional laboratory for alchemy and occult sciences. His mere presence attracted many lesser dragonspawns, along with several other vile creatures, such as goblins, kobolds and the like, allured by the promise of a life under the protection of an evil overlord. With this small horde progressively assembling, Vorgoroth started to better organize his den - setting up prisons and torture chambers for his future victims, dormitories and mess halls for his minions, renewing the defense of the fortress - now known as Stonethorn- and generally making things work quite efficiently.
The Stonethorn has became the epicentre for many raids to the surrounding lands; with time, even brigands and outcasts from other races (mostly humans) came to seek the protection of the lord of the dark castle, their gangs now working for him and paying him tributes. Vorgoroth is well aware of both his strenghts and weaknesses, so he's doing his best to not draw too much attention on his hideout - his forces are easily sufficient to ransack small towns and overpower local militias, but not to face an actual army of thousands of well-equipped soldiers. For this reason, he's actually causing much less trouble than he could, appearing more like a bandit leader than the actual warlord he is.

Successful raids keep bringing in not only food and riches, but also prisoners; many of them just become fodder for his troops and many beasts, or meals for himself; others are kept as slaves, for several purposes.

+++Thyphoros the Pale Wyrm +++
Thyphoros is (or was) an eldritch dragon, so massive and powerful that his very presence on this world was enough to warp reality and twist and deform nature and the very earth surrounding him. Centuries ago he awoke from his primeval sleep, and discovering the mortals venerated false gods and had long since forgotten the legacy of the Wyrms, he decided to reclaim the mortal world, drowning it again in terror for the Elder Dragons. To do so, he breed countless race of warped mutants, created from his own blood, forming legions upon legions of ravenous monsters; and then he waged war against the kingdoms of Men, Elves, Dwarves, and the other oblivious mortal races. The ensuing conflict was dire and straining and many nations were utterly erased from the maps, their people turned into slaves or fodder for the armies of the Pale Wyrm; chronicles remeber these decades as the Wyrm Wars. Fortunately for mankind, an alliance of races, blessed by the divine intervention of angelic legions, finally succeeded in breaking the monstrous invasion and vanquishing Thyphoros himself. His true fate is unknown, but he is said to have been sealed deep beneath the Earth. The conflict left the world permanently scarred, though: dragonspawned monsters still roam the lands, many once thriving cities are now in ruins, and some secret cults still carry on the Pale Wyrm's legacy.
Vorgoroth is only one of the many threats left to the world by the Wyrm Wars...

Vorgoroth rules over the Edaxor Empire, from the Dragon's Tundra to the north to the Calm Sea to the south, keeping the goblin cities in his iron fist .
(Many thanks to Daisy for the map, and for all the many, many inputs and suggestions for this fantasy world!)

(Still work in progress! More lore to come!)

(Vorgoroth can be adapted to a variety of different roles, but usually he's some sort of "Dark Lord", with command over an army of lesser minions.)

(Minions have their alts too now!
Horde o goblins!!

Gnolls! Ogres! Some more brutish force never hurts! Or actually it does!
