Skawren

Skawren is a titan eagle, born and raised among towering crags in the north. He has had years of experience hunting the cunning fauna local to the steppes, as well as the infrequent traveler attempting foolhardily to cross the peaks. Though he isn't the strongest of predators, any who might be considered prey would do poorly to underestimate him.

He sports with a glossy black coat of feathers along his back and through the middle of his tail. The feathers along his belly are a soft, chocolate brown that spreads along the undersides of his wings and to the sides of his tail. This large bird has lengthy feathers that give him a constant sort of ruffled look, and contribute to a black and brown crest along the back of his head. As one might expect, he has a curved beak which is hued a cloud grey. The same cloud grey can be found with the talons that adorn his feet, below his strong brown legs. All in all, he stands at a respectable three and a half meters tall, were you to measure.

With the harsh conditions of the mountains he calls home, Skawren has learned many varied techniques for hunting prey. Among his favorite prey are the travelers and explorers among the mountains and plains. In harder times, the eagle has been known to stray great distances from the mountain he calls home.

Much like the rest of his tribe, Skawren is very intelligent - on par with or above human intelligence. When he is not around those that can speak his language, he can be rather out of his element in terms of recreational activity. Without some sort of external magic or translation, he will not be able to understand the majority of what is being said. Though that is not to say he is fully out of the loop, as he has a sharp eye for spotting and deciphering body language and more subtle movements to determine the feeling and intent behind the words he cannot understand.

He enjoys listening to instrumental music featuring wood instruments, as they remind him of his native tongue. He's more than happy to join in with someone playing a flute or other reed instrument, his singing ability practiced from years of using similar means to communicate with his fellow eagles.

Skawren has a rather lackluster attention span, and often can be distracted by 'shiny' objects. On more than one occasion, his hunt has been interrupted as his prey piqued his interest with baubles. For the rare few that can converse with him, doing so often distracting enough to divert his attention away from a hunt. In addition, an interesting or new concept to him can increasingly divert his attention to the point where he may forget or even shelve his original purpose in the hunt. Because of his largely sheltered life, he can be a bit naive at times. Even so, he makes it a point to hold himself regally and with dignity. This is exacerbated by his decent from a long line of proud eagles, and thus his nature finds him often more sure of himself than he ought to be. This attitude grants him an unconsciously imposing stance when he stands, especially in the presence of others.
