Personality
Sociopath
Cox has a severely lacking moral compass. He is not deliberately evil mind you, nor is it his explicit purpose to cause anyone undeserved harm, but he has a lack of empathy if his goals just so happen to entail emotional or physical harm of others. Mingling with the local populace has also given him a habit of asking first. That being said, gaining your consent is entirely optional for him.
Fickle
Cox is rather fickle and prone of changing his mind every so often as well. If it's not promised, he doesn't feel the need to keep to his words and would always choose whatever is practical for him.
Obsessive
If he likes someone or something however, Cox can easily develope an unhealthy obsession. The most notable example here are sweets, he craves sugar all the time ever since coming in contact with the likes of candy, it's hard to meet him without a lollipop either in his mouth or haphazardly slapped behind his ear where it sticks to his head. If Cox does happen to like you, he won't be letting you go easily anytime soon...
Background
Cox is a Dendrobian, an alien species of anthropomorphic geckos that live in symbiosis with carnivorous plants. They live deep in lush jungles full of these plants which with their tentacle-like vines and myriads of poisons prove a very hostile environment. And yet, it is in such deadly environment where Dendrobians live and thrive. They have fully adapted, sporting long fingers and toes with opposable thumbs on each hand, special texture on their digits allowing them to climb steepest surfaces and most notably, skins coated with various hallucinogenic substances. Not only does this chemical film cause any carnivorous plant to actively try to release them, but also sends any would-be predator into a trance-like, trippy state of stupification. In such a state, they are easily consumed by the Dendrobians or simply disposed of by feeding them to the local flora, which gains food this way by leaving them be. Dendrobians are usually sequentially hermaphroditic. At any point, there is one alpha female which the colony treats as queen surrounded by a harem of males. When the current Matriarch dies, a young adult becomes the next. Cox however, seems to have a genetic defect... he was supposed to become female, but didn't. Seeing as he was quite a loner in the first place, Cox simply left thinking his absence would solve the problem as it would lead to the next best Dendrobian to turn female in his stead. After leaving his World through coming in contact with an expedition, Cox took up a job quite suited for someone who resists any poison and cannot be eaten by carnivorous plants... a researcher that studies these very things - but he has expanded his field quite a bit since starting.
Abilities
Vore
Dendrobians are omnivores, but very versatile at how they consume others. Cox is cabable of most forms of devouring other beings, be it orally, with or without chewing, through his tail, genitals and even through draining blood or absorption.
Coated Skin
A Dendrobian isn't explicitly built as apex predator, they are neither the fastest nor the strongest in most environments (though still a good deal fitter than your average human). They rely on the fact that their skins are coated with various substances, which cause various effects on people who lick or attempt to ingest them. Usually, the victim trips out in a daze. But depending on the Dendrobian's mood, the substances vary and can also become a strong aphrodisiac, a mind-numbing drug that makes one susceptible to suggestion or a deadly poison. If a carnivorous plant comes in contact with a Dendrobian's coating, they will actively avoid eating them regardless of plant species and mood of the Dendrobian.
White MagicScience
Cox doesn't know this, but he's actually innately magical to an extent. The magic does not come in form of any consciously controlled invocations, but truth is that Cox has little concept of the higher fields of research since he hasn't really had formal training. However, his belief that something he has constructed or concocted should work in certain ways makes said things work in such ways. That is to say, things he makes may be nothing but scrap that falls apart or ineffective mixtures in the hands of anyone else, but properly working gadgets and wondrous potions when he applies them. This ability has it's limits, as the affected things must at least have minimal semblance towards what they are supposed to do. Furthermore, how far Cox is convinced that something is likely to work plays a strong role - and he tends to remain scientifically skeptic for most things.
Absolute Immune System
As a race that thrives in a rainforest-like environment full of poisonous flora and fauna, Dendrobians have adapted a unique immune system that automatically 'barricades' any chemical effect before they cause harm to their organism. This means a Dendrobian will still take effects from some drugs, but will never overdose or get poisoned. Due to the nature of their own skin, they are also unaffected by aphrodisiacs, strong relaxants, hallucinogens and most effects related to recreational drugs.
Limber
Dendrobians are great climbers. Their digits can stick to almost any surface allowing them to, among things, climb out of a pitcher plant. While Dendrobians can climb practically anywhere, they don't do so with significant speed.
Quick Learner
Cox catches on very fast, he can speak a new language within weeks of coming contact to it if exposed properly and has made it from being an outcast of a primitive society into a valid field of research. He's not very booksmart, however, and often employs methods found by wit or stubborn trial and error rather than theory.
Hormone Injections
Cox can shift himself to other phases of Dendrobian maturity through hormone cocktails stored in injector vials on his back. One will cause him to physically mature, the other will do the opposite. Cox prefers to remain in his current form by default, but readily employs the use of the vials. His maturity stages are known as (in order from least to most mature) Pseudo-Larva, Nymph (default), Medusa and Imago, whereas his Pseudo-Larva and Imago forms are not normal stages in Dendrobian metamorphosis; they result if he overdoses.
Growth/Shrink Serum
The most notable things of Cox' scientific arsenal (not that he has a lot, unlike most mad scientists) are his growth and shrink serums, capable of altering anyone's size without affecting them otherwise. The only downside is that clothes don't tend to adapt...
OOC Information:
- I am a moderator, if you have any questions or require a mediator and lawkeeper, don't be afraid to give me a call.
- Please feel free to approach me as you like! We might not necessarily turn out to mutual RP interests, but nothing good will come of it if you don't try in the first place, right? Just remember I'm not anyone's personal RP slave to hog.
- If you're trying to figure out what kind of scene I like, I have some bad news: I'm quite popular and in fact had almost any of my wishes fulfilled and there is usually an ample amount of people with whom I can get whatever I'm in the mood for...
- ...However! What I always like and endlessly desire is meeting and playing with interesting and friendly people who are also adept RPers. If that sounds like you, the scene details are just a bonus. If you think that doesn't sound like you... you're free to try anyways ;)
- If you want me to come up with the scene, you'll need to tell me at least some of your preferences - It's hard to get something done well with vague or blind guessing! That being said... bring it!
