The Nexus Virus is actually a parasitic infection first discovered in the Nexus Park in an unfortunate predatory creature called a naga who, aside from their usual habits of going around eating anything smaller than them, had also been witnessed trying to aggravate larger and more capable predators. Fortunately, for the larger predators, rather than eat the infected naga, its bizarre behavior was spotted by a local scientist out collecting samples for his experiments. He lured the naga back to his laboratory in the mountains surrounding the park and subdued it long enough to study. Sadly, the naga perished in captivity after diving into the stomach of a pitcher plant that the scientists were experimenting growth hormones on, but the scientist was able to record valuable data regarding the discovery of this strange parasite. It should be noted that the pitcher plant and all related biology in its habitat were incinerated after it was discovered to possess the infection.

It's like the zombie disease of horror film, except instead of reanimating the dead, it just takes over the neural system of the host in order to control their actions, resulting in a seemingly insatiable appetite, but more importantly, the victim becomes a willing meal to anything able to eat it. Even the pitcher plant's biology fundamentally changed upon infection of the parasite, and soon after the naga's suicide in the specimen's gut, the pitcher plant began to change from its usual colors of green and yellow to bright, flagrant colors easily identifiable by insects. What's more notable is that its stomach acids drained away and its flowers began to bloom in at an unseasonal time. Had insects been able to drink the nectar, it is likely they too would have become hosts. Luckily, the experiment had been quarantined immediately after the naga was discovered to have contaminated the experiment, long before it jumped into the pitcher plant's mouth.

Currently, a number of biologists have converged on the lab and are seeking answers toward the origin and genetics of this strange new parasite. So far, they have few answers. It is similar to the Dicrocoelium dendriticum parasite in the way it reproduces, but unlike the Dicrocoelium dendriticum parasite, is not limited to controlling the minds of ants alone. It is such a sophisticated parasite, that it can infect even sentient creatures.

Out-of-Character

Once infected, your character will become prone to sudden, unnatural urges. That means occasionally PMing you during public RPs to implant suggestions, and/or you making up strange behavior on your own if I am not around to help (it is up to you which option you prefer). If you are a 100% predator character, it is suggested that you simply avoid RP with Corrupted and its storyline. Anyone playing under corruption of the parasite will carry a tag on their profile.

It is at the discretion of the roleplayer whether or not he/she chooses to participate in the Corrupted storyline. Just because a character has the tag on their profile does not force all predators eating them to be infected. If your partner wishes not to be infected, void the infection for your individual RP. I don't want to limit people's RP options just because you're participating in a storyline.

However, if you do with to partake, send a PUB to this character saying you have been infected! Current participants will be listed as a reported infection.
