Puberty is an odd time for every young man. You grow taller, you get stronger, you develop an interest in women, and over a few months you get scales on your legs and turn into a fish.

...Wait, what was that last one?

Yeah... turns out when a fisherman winds up meeting, romancing, and having a child with a mermaid, things can get a bit... odd, sometimes. Like that 'merfolk' part coming in full-force during puberty, leaving a rather confused teenager losing his legs, and becoming aquatic. And so, our hero took to the lakes and oceans, not really able to move about properly on land anymore, and decided to figure out this whole 'merperson' thing. It... hasn't gone well. On the plus side, he learned that quite a few of his new species possessed mild magic. On the not-so-plus side, attempting to use that magic to let himself have legs on occasion also wound up transporting him to another world... one with rather odd ways of eating. Though, luckily, whatever that spell was, it appears to repeat every time he dies, him finding himself waking up where he landed upon his first warp to this world.

Personality-wise, he's kind, if not somewhat sarcastic, the whole 'complete species change and entirely new lifestyle' having left him a slight bit bitter. However, he does try to look past that whole thing, and try and learn how to actually be a merperson. On the plus side, this form did give him a few new abilities, such as a powerful tail, high swimming speeds, some magic, waterbreathing, and the ability to survive at incredible depths.
